Ada Jenkins was a school teacher and community leader in Davidson. After the former Davidson Colored School burned, she helped raise funds to build a new school. It opened on the current site in 1937 and was renamed for Jenkins after her death. The school operated until the end of segregation in 1966. It's now the Ada Jenkins Center, a community services center serving residents in need. We'll hear about Jenkins herself as well as from community members who attended the school. And we'll take a look at the Ada Jenkins Center today and its role in the community.
